The GBIF regional nodes meeting for Europe and Central Asia (ECA) takes place in Croatia from May 27-28, 2024. BioDT partners have been invited as observers to this meeting and presented their results and products, which were then shared with end-users by the GBIF nodes.
Europe and Central Asia Nodes meeting 2024
The primary objectives of these regional meetings are to support regional coordination, facilitate collaboration among nodes, provide feedback to the GBIF Secretariat, and strengthen regional engagement in GBIF. The meetings are led by regional representatives and offer a platform for nodes to share updates on their activities, receive feedback from peers, and identify outreach strategies and actions.
This 16th meeting of the GBIF ECA nodes is hosted by GBIF Croatia. The in-person meeting is open to node managers from participating countries in Europe and Central Asia, while non-member countries and international organisations are invited to join as observers.
This GBIF ECA event included 4 sessions:
(1) Welcome, and updates from joint ECA nodes activities and projects,
(2) ECA Infrastructure and ECA nodes lightning talks,
(3) ECA regional outreach strategy, updates from the regional support officers, updates from the GBIF Secretariat, and
(4) ECA strategy and work plan.
BioDT Workshop
During the third session update on results from BioDT is presented. The update includes a presentation of the Shiny app for sharing information including about events organised across nodes of different bioRIs and a preliminary report from the survey on bioRIs node collaboration and governance models.
The BioDT survey will be showcased and explained to the GBIF ECA.
