A national knowledge hub
NLBIF - Netherlands Biodiversity Information Facility - is the national knowledge hub of GBIF - Global Biodiversity Information Facility. GBIF is an international network and database for biodiversity data. GBIF and NLBIF share the common goal of providing open access to data about all forms of life on Earth to everyone, anywhere.
Bringing together open and freely accessible biodiversity data, and developing the necessary publication and analysis tools for it, are necessary for:
- Modern scientific research;
- The protection of biodiversity;
- The equitable distribution of the ecosystem services it provides;
- Technological and sustainable development; and
- Improving people's quality of life.
BioDT at the NLBIF
Sharif Islam, leader for improving Quality of Data, Workflows and Models through FAIR Principles in BioDT, joined the NLBIF meeting on 7 March 2023 and presented an overview of the technical advancements done in the scope of the project.
