On March 5th, 2024, Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh is hosting a "Your Planet, Your Future" School Careers Fair, and the BioDT project partner, UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (UKCEH) participates. The event aims to ignite a passion for science among students, showcasing the diverse and crucial role it plays in safeguarding our planet's future.
UKCEH: Leaders in Long-Term Environmental Monitoring
UKCEH plays a central role in understanding and predicting environmental change. Their expertise in long-term environmental monitoring is key. Through projects like UK-SCAPE, INTERACT, and eLTER, UKCEH contributes to a vast network of sites across the UK and Europe. These sites meticulously collect data on everything from air quality to biodiversity, forming a vital foundation for scientific research that informs decision-making and future environmental strategies.
BioDT's role
BioDT project leverages long-term monitoring data to create biodiversity digital twins, a virtual replica of an ecosystem, constantly evolving based on real-world observations. BioDT uses this cutting-edge technology to predict changes in biodiversity, allowing us to proactively manage our environment and safeguard precious ecosystems.
BioDT project partner UKCEH participates in the fair with several exhibition, interactive activities and engaging displays, highlighting the use of data collected at long-term monitoring sites.
