COP29 - 29th Conference of the Parties

The 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is set to take place at the Baku Stadium in Azerbaijan from November 11-22, 2024. Hosted by the Government of Azerbaijan, this crucial global forum will comprise three major components: the twenty-ninth session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 29), the nineteenth session of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP 19), and the sixth session of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Paris Agreement (CMA 6). The conference aims to build on previous successes and pave the way for enhanced ambition in tackling global climate change.

COP29 Azerbaijan Presidency

The COP29 Presidency has announced several global initiatives under its Action Agenda, designed to advance climate action and encourage non-party stakeholder engagement. These presidency-led initiatives are building upon the legacy of previous efforts, ensuring synergies and maximum impact. The Presidency has established strong collaboration with the United Nations Global Task Force and maintains active engagement with Parties and non-party stakeholders in developing and implementing a comprehensive plan of action.

BioDT at the COP29 

BioDT will mark its presence at COP29 through the representation of Tero Aalto, a project member from CSC, who is available to showcase the project's innovative approaches to biodiversity conservation and climate action. This participation aligns with the European Union's comprehensive strategy to address both climate change and biodiversity loss through digital solutions. BioDT's involvement, alongside other EU-funded projects participating in both COP29 and COP16, demonstrates the EU's commitment to strengthening its global voice and taking concrete actions to protect biodiversity through innovative, technology-driven solutions.
